BIRDING FOR ALL

(formerly the Disabled Birders Association up to the 4th November 2009)

(Registered Charity No.1091755)

Annual Report

For the year ending 31st March 2011.

This year’s annual accounts – as at the 31st March 2011 - showed that we had a total income of £2,291which includes £534 in respect of Gift Aid tax reclaims from the Inland Revenue. Expenditure came to a total of £5,298 This figure includes Bird Fair costs of £2,876, which includes, inter alia, £1,179.47 on Administration. and £721 on depreciation of display equipment.

There was an excess of expenditure over income amounting to £3.007 Within this expenditure excess was a payment of £1,000 on the website design of the new Birding for All website. A grant for this particular cost was recorded in last year’s accounts. The total reserves are now reduced to £5,678 as compared with last year’s reserves balance of £8,685.

Seven new members were enrolled during the financial year. With great sorrow we report that our Membership Secretary Mrs. Margaret Read, M.B.E. died suddenly at the end of 2010. Margaret was an efficient and enthusiastic member of Birding for All and her services and experience will be greatly missed. Our member Mr. Philip Gatley will take on the duties of Membership Secretary in 2011.

Once again members of Birding for All attended the British Bird Fair at Rutland Water in the middle of August for three days. We had visits from our sponsors and supporters namely, David Lindo (Urban Birder), Nick Baker (TV wildlife presenter), Jonathan Scott of “Big Cat Diary” fame. Mr. & Mrs. Scott have agreed to become another of our patrons. Other members visited throughout the three days.

The new “Birding for All” display equipment was used for the first time at the Bird Fair. Through the sale of donated books, DvDs, and equipment we raised £530 at the Bird Fair.

We also produced, once again, our annual newsletter “Update” at a cost of £171. This was edited and printed by Margaret Read and her husband – Don. Another aspect of the charities work that will need to be produced by another volunteer in 2011.
